Cindy is a certified massage
therapist and received her training and certification from the Pennsylvania
Institute of Massage Therapy, a state accredited school in Quakertown, PA.
Cindy is also a certified massage Doula, graduating with the top honors in her
class. She is also a certified Reiki Master.
Cindy has been a full-time
massage therapist for many years and has established a very successful
practice. She has been a long-time friend of New Visions Books and Gifts and is
now a welcome addition to our facility. We refer to her office as “Fairie’s
Glen”, a peaceful sanctuary downstairs, which awaits you when you schedule your

Massage
Therapy...
Massage Therapy is the oldest
and most natural of the healing arts and has been used for thousands of years to
ease muscle pain and reduce stress. It is an instinctive act to make yourself
or someone else feel better through touch. Massage Therapy can help ease the
pressure and toll that life’s stress can have on your body. Tension, tightened
muscles, poor circulation and pain are a few of your body’s natural indicators
that you might need relief. In addition to the enjoyment factor, the benefits
of massage are numerous. People of all ages can benefit from regular Massage
Therapy.
Cost: $60
per hour, $35 per half hour
Hot Stone
Therapy…
Hot Stone Therapy is a variation
on classic massage. The stones used in Hot Stone Therapy are round and smooth,
usually made of basalt, a type of rock that is rich in iron and retains heat.
They are comfortable to the sense of touch. The stones are immersed in water
and heated in an electric device until they are within a certain temperature
range. They are then placed on specific points on the back and in the palms of
the hand. The heat warms and relaxes the body, allowing the therapist to apply
deeper pressure, if desired. The Therapist then uses a combination of hand and
stone movement over the body to relax and revitalize you. Hot Stone Therapy is
another Heavenly way to enjoy massage!

Reflexology…
Reflexology is the thousands-of-years-old practice of
massaging the acupressure points in the feet or hands to relieve
stress/illness/pain, and stimulate mental, emotional and physical healing, and
well-being in all body systems. It builds stress resistance and rejuvenates by
stimulating meridians, circulation, and nerve systems. Each area of the foot or
hand is connected via nerves and electromagnetic energy (chi) channels
(meridians) to a particular body or organ system. Massaging the feet or hands
in a particular way stimulates, flushes and detoxifies that area. Just
massaging your entire hands and feet alone can bring wellness to your entire
body. Reflexology can be most relaxing and the benefits can be remarkable.
Cost: $50 per hour, $35 per half

Ear Candling…
Ear Candling is yet another
wonderful holistic modality that makes use of specially made ear candles to
gently clean and purify your ears. Ear Candling is an ancient therapy
reintroduced into the modern world. The candles are approximately 12” long and
cylindrical. They are made of cheese cloth dipped in a combination of wax and
herbs. Two candles are used per ear as you relax on the table. This therapy
can be quite relaxing and the sound that the candle makes while burning can be
quite soothing. Having your ears candled from time to time is not only a
healthy way to maintain healthy ears, but a great way to relax, as well. It is
especially good for people who suffer from allergies.

Reiki
Treatments…
Reiki is a Japanese form of
healing that uses the sense of touch combined with the channeling of chi energy
to relax, heal, rejuvenate and vitalize the body. In a Reiki Treatment, the
therapist places her hands on various and specific points on the body and
focuses her intention and directs healing into the body. The therapist becomes
a conduit of healing energy for the client, but the healing that takes place is
actually self-healing by the client. Reiki energy balances the Esoteric body,
which consists of the seven Chakras, the Meridians and the Aura. Healing takes
place on an esoteric level, and then eventually manifests on an exoteric level.
Not only does a Reiki Treatment
balance and re-vitalize the body, it is a very non-evasive holistic modality. A
client does not have to remove any clothing and can just rest peacefully on the
table.
An occasional Reiki Treatment is
a great way to give yourself a spiritual tune-up and energy boost!

Doula
Massage...
Prenatal Massage is a completely
safe, natural, drug-free method of relieving the aches, pains and swelling
associated with pregnancy. Massage helps alleviate stress on the weight bearing
joints of the hips, pelvis, knees and ankles, and relieves soreness in the
muscles that are supporting the additional weight of the baby. Massage helps
ease pressure and pain of the nervous system, including the sciatic nerve.

Eric Sumwalt, CMT
As a
Maryland State Registered Massage Practitioner Eric brings over 18 years of
experience into every session. His initial training started at the Baltimore
School of Massage in 1989. He attained an Associates Degree in Massage Therapy
from the Academy of Medical Arts and Business in Harrisburg, PA in 2004. He
has also been sharing his experience by teaching Massage Therapy at YTI in
Mechanicsburg, PA where he especially enjoys sharing his specialties of
CranioSacral and Aromatherapy. Eric’s goal is to take his knowledge of Swedish,
Deep Tissue, Myofascial, Aromatherapy, CranioSacral, and Energy Balancing to
create the perfect session with his clients. With his experience he has found
that the saying “less is more” definitely describes his style of massage. Most
people when they hear Deep Tissue think pain. That is not so when working with
Eric. He definitely gets into the deeper layers of muscles with a gentle touch.
By taking this gentle approach it is easier to go even deeper and reach the
clients “core”. By getting to the “core” Eric feels that a person can truly
attain change within their body, mind and spirit.

Massage Therapy...
Massage?? By definition it is
to manipulate soft tissue. Yet there is much more that happens when one
makes contact with another person.
Imagine not only having your body,
but your Mind and Spirit being contacted and brought back into balance, allowing
yourself the time to relax , to open up and let go.
During your massage, Eric notice
where your are tense, and he takes the time to see how your body reacts to
different levels or types of touch. Assessing the best way to assist you
in bringing your body back into natural balance.
Whether it is by physical touch,
energetic embrace or through the use of therapeutic essential oils, your body
will begin to transform and continue transforming even after your massage.
Your first session may take a little
longer as Eric likes to assess the body as a whole. Our whole body
functions as one complete unit, so no matter what part of the body is being
massaged, all bodily systems, as well as the Mind and Spirit, are affected.
Some of Eric's work is done
intuitively, as he "let's go" and trusts his insights and then acts upon them.
This can lead to a session that goes to the "next level" and allows the client
to enjoy a wonderful turn of "healing events."

yourself permission to open up and transform. It's time to begin a new

Aromatherapy...
Only pure therapeutic grade
essential oils that are carefully blended into a natural carrier are used during
your massage. These plant and floral extracts are not only usually
pleasant to smell, they also are balancing in nature.
Depending on whether your need is
physical or energetic, there is an essential oil blend that will aid in bringing
the body back into balance. Most of the time, Eric uses a pre-blended
mixture, but he can also custom blend and oil just right for you.
CranioSacral Therapy...
Based on the idea that the body is
able to heal itself, Eric can assist you through your won healing process with
CranioSacral Therapy. Using a gentle hands on method of evaluating and
enhancing different rhythms, the body can easily be brought back into balance.
Many times just finding the imbalance is enough of the body to recognize what is
wrong and make the needed corrections. Sometimes we just need a gentle
reminder as to what is happening with us. By getting the mind to recognize
what is going on within the body one might begin to see some very profound
changes, not just physically, but also within the Mind and Spirit.
