New Visions Bookstore was started in 1987 by Bill Trivett and Bob Hall to fill a need in the area to provide the books and resources for personal and spiritual growth. Our first location was in a small shop at 23 S. Beaver St. in downtown York. Two years later we moved to 570 N. Belvidere Ave. in York in April 1989 to a larger location so that we could hold classes and workshops. For five years we were the official bookstore for the Life Spectrums Rainbow Experience Conference. We would literally close our store and move the entire inventory to the conference for an entire week. What a huge undertaking! Those were the days that Life Spectrums attracted 600-800 attendees for the week. In 1996 we started the
The first class for the York School of Esoteric Studies under the direction of Rev. Jo Roussey began the fall of 1999 to provide a serious educational opportunity for the serious student of Truth, Wisdom and Knowledge. 2003 brought forth our first graduating class of this four year program of intensive study. 2006 brought forth our first class of ordained ministers. In 2001 we held the

In 1992, and most recently in 2007, we were featured in our trade magazine, New Age Retailer, as one of the most compelling metaphysical bookstores in the nation. The article and the honors that come with that has humbled us. On May, 1, 2008, we moved to our perfect home at 525 Hillcrest Rd. in York at the top of Queen St. Hill in a wonderfully quiet residential neighborhood, just off of the main drag, tucked in to a quaint, historical, karmically correct building, which was a health food store for over 42 years. From here, we hope to serve you for at least another 21 years. The building is perfect for us. You will agree when you come and visit us. The energy is peaceful, warm, happy and friendly. We have seen thousands of people come through our doors and come to our events over the years. Our mission is to continue to be a Light of Hope and Transformation for lives that we touch. We want to be very up front, clear and honest about all of our Policies & Procedures. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us. A copy of our complete policy on the use of credit cards, returns and refunds is available to any one who requests a copy. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us. RETURNS & EXCHANGES ALL SALES ARE FINAL! Exchanges will be made on defective merchandise only. If the merchandise is no longer available, a store credit will be issued. There are no cash or credit card refunds. ALSO PLEASE NOTE! Due to federal copyright laws, ANY returns of opened packages of the following items can ONLY be exchanged if the merchandise is defective and only for an exchange of the exact same item. This includes audio or music CD or cassette; any DVD, video or computer related software product. REFUNDS ON READINGS, CLASSES & WORKSHOPS Many classes/workshops and readings have a partial or no refund policy as of day one of sign up or after a certain date due to different teacher/reader/lecturer requirements. As an example, all readings with Allyson Walsh are always on a non-refundable basis. In some cases, the speaker/reader has to travel a distance and we must guarantee them a certain minimum to be cost effective. Most all events have a no refund policy after a certain date. Please check on the requirements for the particular event you are interested in before you sign up. Note: The York School of Esoteric Studies operates on a totally separate policy.
PAYMENT OPTIONS Of course, cash is always welcome every day.
CHECKS Yes, we will accept your check with the proper ID. However, we DO NOT accept the following: payroll, two party, starter or predated checks; out of state checks or checks written for more than the amount of purchase. RETURN CHECKS ARE SUBJECT TO A $30.00 RETURN CHECK FEE We fully believe in the Universal metaphysical concept of love, and trust, but we also believe in the Universal Laws of karma. Bad checks will definitely be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
MONEY ORDERS We will accept U. S. Money Orders made out to New Visions Books & Gifts for the exact amount of the purchase.
CHARGE CARDS We accept MasterCard, Visa and Discover. You must show proper ID to use your card. We reserve the right to refuse to accept a card if we are in doubt about your ID. Please note that charge cards may not be used to pay tuition for the York School of Esoteric Studies, nor for any services offered by anyone else in this building besides New Visions Books & Gifts. By using your card here you are agreeing to our policies and that if a refund is issued, we reserve the right to do so by cash or check if we so desire. Those attempting a charge back will be subject to any and all legal remedies available to us. Customers using credit cards agree to be subject to the same policies regarding returns, refunds on classes and readers as those paying by cash or check.
GIFT CERTIFICATES Gift Certificates may be purchased in any denomination for any and all merchandise, events and services that are offered by New Visions Books & Gifts. They have no cash value and must be used in full by the expiration date. There are no cash refunds on Gift Certificates. We bear no responsibility for lost or stolen gift certificates.
OUR POLICY ON BUYING & SELLING MERCHANDISE IN OUR STORE It is the unequivocal policy of New Visions Books & Gifts that we DO NOT under any circumstances buy nor accept on consignment any kinds of merchandise or products whatsoever to be sold in our store from ANYONE who is currently or was in the past a customer, friend, lover, and or any acquaintance whatsoever or who has had any affiliation with us at any time in the past or currently.
We also NEVER “buy back” or trade via cash, credit or exchange of goods or services, whether at full price or discount ANY merchandise or services we have sold. And we never buy used or even slightly used products. We only buy merchandise from our regular vendors whom we have secured through the course of regular business channels.
We also currently have all of the charitable causes that we choose to be affiliated with , as well.
The reason for these policies is because we have been put in uncomfortable problematic situations in the past. So to be fair to everyone, we do NOT make exceptions. PLEASE DON’T ASK.

OUR POLICIES PERTAINING TO THE USE OF OUR MAILING LIST, OUR WEBSITE, WEEKLY E-MAILS, NEWSLETTER AND DISTRIBUTION OF IN-STORE FLYERS
Our Mailing List/E-mail List We do not sell, share or loan our mailing list and e-mail list to/with anyone for the security of our customers because they expect no less from us, and we respect their privacy. No one will be added to those lists without their permission.
Distribution of Non-store Materials On Our Premises To distribute any promotional material of any kind for services or for events by any interested party on our premises, you must clear it with us first in advance. There should be no assumption on anyone’s part of approval. We do not “post” flyers because we have very limited wall space and we do not wish to clutter our windows. We do have a limited amount of space below our music section for flyers. We prefer tri fold and standard size flyers. Since anything in our store reflects upon us and our reputation, we reserve the right to accept or reject any networking material. Our acceptance does not necessarily constitute endorsement on our part.
Solicitation of Our Customers For their comfort and peace of mind, we strictly prohibit the solicitation of our customers anywhere on the grounds of New Visions Books & Gifts by anyone who is not a part of New Visions Books & Gifts staff for any reason unless it is part of a pre-approved event offered in our store and there is an expectation of solicitation by our customer based on the nature of that event, i.e. Open Houses, Friday Night Forums, etc.
Advertising In Our Quarterly Newsletter We currently offer paid advertising on the back page of our newsletter. We do not accept inserts or anything to be enclosed in our mailing that is not New Visions Books & Gifts sponsored. We reserve the right to reject any ad based on our criteria.
The Use of Our Website And/Or Weekly Emails The use of our website and weekly email is solely for the promotion of those events, lectures, workshops, etc, that are sponsored by New Visions Books & Gifts, The Celebration of Life Holistic Expo, The York School of Esoteric Studies and anything else that happens at New Visions Books & Gifts. No outside events not sponsored by us will be advertised on these venues.
Finally, The Reason For These Policies The reasons are two-fold. First, the comfort and peace of mind of our customers is our Number #1 priority, for without them we would not exist. The second is, quite frankly, that we have been put into some very uncomfortable or problematic situations in the past, and we are not longer willing to play such games. So to be fair to everyone, we simply cannot make exceptions, PLEASE DON’T ASK.
